Award-winning super star, David Ayodele Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has spoken of his relationship with Mr. Macaroni, the online comedian.

The ‘Assurance’ crooner says Veronica Adeleke, his later mother, bought the funnyman his first phone.

Davido was speaking on Friday, March 18, 2022 with Udux, the Nigerian streaming platform.

“The famous comedian Mr. Macaroni. Apparently, my mum bought him his first phone. He told me that, anywhere he sees me, he’ll always be there for me whether I’m greater than him or he than me,” he said.

Veronica passed away on March 6, 2003, at 39. Her death came as a rude shock to the Adeleke family.

Davido had earlier narrated how his mother died of cardiac arrest on his dad’s birthday.

“I was about 10 to 11 years old when she died. She died on my father’s birthday,” the singer said.

“One thing I always wish for is that she should have been alive. I would have bought her a lot of diamonds and houses but she knew that I was going to be great.

“My mother was from Benin. I think I’m like her; I inherited her agility. She helped so many people to date, I go to some places and people would tell me what my mother did for them.

“Before my mother died, I was a mummy’s boy because my father was always busy. He was working and always traveling to places like China.”

In January, Mr Macaroni had also opened up on how Davido’s dad bought him his first laptop.

“If you think Davido is a great giver or is easily accessible, then you need to meet his dad; Dr Deji Adeleke. Dr Adeleke is one of my greatest inspirations. Since the days of SDA Magodo, I learnt the art of giving and helping others from him,” he had said.

“When I first got admission into university Dr Deji Adeleke bought me my first laptop ever. For every time I needed money in school, all it took was for me to send a text message. I abused the access, but he remained kind and generous. God bless you Chairman. Thank you for everything.”
