Immigration chief, Adesokan gets rousing send forth

It was praised galore at the FESTAC Town Passport Office unit of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Deputy Comptroller Adeola Adesokan, as officers, friends and well-wishers held a befitting send-forth party in appreciation of her achievement in service. Encomium came from speakers, including the Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area and immigration officers who extolled Adeshokan’s virtues for effectively taking charge as Passport Control Officer since October, 2020. Davido reveals relationship with Mr. Macaroni

Mr. Macaroni and Davido Edwin Usoboh Award-winning super star, David Ayodele Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has spoken of his relationship with Mr. Macaroni, the online comedian. The ‘Assurance’ crooner says Veronica Adeleke, his later mother, bought the funnyman his first phone. Davido was speaking on Friday, March 18, 2022 with Udux, the Nigerian streaming platform. “The famous comedian Mr. Macaroni. Apparently, my mum bought him his first phone. He told me that, anywhere he sees me, he’ll always be there for me whether I’m greater than him or he than me,” he said. Veronica passed away on March 6, 2003, at 39. Her death came as a rude shock to the Adeleke family. Davido had earlier narrated how his mother died of cardiac arrest on his dad’s birthday. “I was about 10 to 11 years old when she died. Traders count losses as fire guts Apongbon Bridge

Edwin Usoboh There was pandemonium at Apongbon area of Lagos Island, on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 as fire gutted several shops in a makeshift market, under Apongbon Bridge and left goods worth millions of naira destroyed. The incident led to a chaotic traffic situation, as vehicular movements in the axis was grounded, bringing business activities to a complete halt. Areas affected include Ijora, Apongbon, CMS, Funsho Williams Avenue, and  Constain, Apapa Road, among others. Motorists went into frantic mood, making U-turns into alternative routes to  access their destinations. According to a source, the incident happened in the early hours of yesterday. While there was no record of death, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained  at press time. Men of  Lagos Fire and Rescue Team who arrived the scene, battled  for  several hours to put out  the inferno. Adesuwa and Etim-Effiong hosted the AMVCA nomination  Edwin Usoboh Africa Magic will on Saturday, March 19, 202 unveil nominees for the eight edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.  The event is slated to broadcast on all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv from 9pm WAT. NURTW: Why we suspended MC Oluomo indefinitely

MC Oluomo Edwin Usoboh The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has given reason why Lagos chapter’s Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya (Mc Oluomo), was suspended indefinitely. According to the national body, Mc Oluomo was suspended over allegation of misconduct, insubordination, and inciting members of the state chapter against the apex body. The development follows a query sent to the NURTW boss in Lagos over alleged meddlesomeness in Union matters, as well as protest staged by Mc Oluomo supporters during which they accused the union at national level of unnecessarily interfering in the state affairs. It was gathered that the national body of the union had therefore, directed MC Oluomo to immediately hand over the mantle of leadership to his deputy chairman and release all property belonging to the transport body in his possession to State Secretary, in a bid to avoid any leadership vacuum in the state. How Police authority shielded Abba Kyari -NHRC boss

Edwin Usoboh  Anthony Ojukwu, SAN, the executive secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), has detailed how Abba Kyari, was shielded from facing trial on numerous cases since 2008. Speaking at a capacity building retreat of the House of Representatives Committee on Human Rights, organised by the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), Ojukwu disclosed that all the petitions against DCP Kyari, bordered on human rights violations. He lamented that despite several invitations extended to Kyari who is currently in custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over alleged cocaine deal, the police authorities refused to allow him to appear before the commission. Edwin Usoboh The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency ( NIMASA ) Dr. Bashir Jamoh has commended the Nigerian Navy for its continued support to the Agency over the years. The DG who said this when he met with the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard Limited, Rear Admiral Kohath Levi on a working visit to his office on Friday, March 18, 2022 He particularly appreciated the Nigerian Navy for hosting and securing the Agency’s floating dock since its arrival in the country. According to Dr. Jamoh:  “We appreciate the Nigerian Navy for making available its facility for the Floating Dockyard since arriving in Nigeria.
